Day Trip to Troddenvale Cider at Oakley Farm

Sunday, Sept 24
Leave early morning from Richmond city and return evening

Join us on a day trip up to the beautiful Oakley Farm, home of Troddenvale cidery run by Cornelia and Will Hodges. Troddenvale ciders are some of our favorites coming out of Virginia, and we love visiting the beautiful site they call home. Troddenvale is nestled in the cradle of Virginia’s great springs region, the Warm Springs Valley, near the Virginia/West Virginia border. We’ll take a bus up from Richmond city, grab some lunch and spend the day touring the farm, learning about their cider-making processes and tasting a whole bunch of their delicious bottles.

This event is intended for women & LGBTQ+ people only at this time. Ticket cost includes transportation to and from Richmond to Oakley Farm, lunch, cider tasting, an InWine goodie bag and maybe a little fun drink for the road (;

About Troddenvale

Troddenvale produces transparency-driven cider of origin with limited-to-no alterations. We believe complex cider with aromatics and body can be achieved by showcasing the land and fruit from Virginia, our home.

Troddenvale translates to the “valley road” and is inspired by a lengthy history of visitors traveling to the cradle of Virginia’s great springs region, the Warm Springs Valley. Translated through our cider, we strive to preserve this valley’s treasured history, its spring water, forgotten orchards, and furthermore, we seek an opportunity for new stories to be told - of the land, the soil, and the people.

We believe that dedicating our efforts to where fruit is grown and how will lead us to achieve the greatest potential in our cider. In 2019 we developed a dynamic partnership with Fireside Farm, incorporating their pastured poultry operation within the orchard. Our joint goal as a producing farm is to contribute to our rural economy through a closed looped system that benefits both the land and our community.

Stripping away the modern techniques and dogmatic notions of the commercial beverage industry, we strive to make pure expressions of distinct fruit and showcase where they are grown. Focusing on what the fruit can give us requires patience and limited intervention.
