So much has happened since I’ve touched base even though my horoscope reminds me to “check in and touch base with my community”. Let’s just say this check-in is long overdue.
How the heck is everyone?!
Life has taken on a slowness amidst the chaos: restaurants shutting down for the season (fingers crossed it’s no longer than that); restaurants / establishments temporarily shutting down due to COVID cases on the rise (on top of having to get tested around the holidays makes for an added wait time of potentially 3+ hrs); and i’m at home dreaming about Women in Wine events while trying to improve my sourdough skills.
Tbh, there are times when i feel overwhelmed but I know i’m not alone in this feeling. Then, there are times when i feel some motivating m*fin energy! That time is now. So, I ask, what is next for #WiW?!
Well, I have been dreaming. But I put a lot of dreams on the back burner - needing to adjust to what life is bringing us right now, ie: these past months of COVID-related restrictions. And while I wish that the added hardships weren’t there, I don’t think we should shy away from the lessons in humanity that we are being presented with. That thought likely comes to the forefront of my mind when dreaming: how can we be safe, respect the many unknowns of the virus, and still stay connected?
I personally have done some brainstorming, but, I am grateful to have others to bounce ideas off of. Those who remind me that they also want to “see Women in Wine pick back up” (their words, not just mine) reminds me there is a way to keep this going! You see, Women in Wine is not about just a few people who come together to drink wine but rather, has always been an opportunity for community building. And what that looks like will hopefully be constantly evolving.
To go back to my original question: What is next for WiW?!
I won’t spoil all the surprises but I can tell you there is good to come!
