InWine is constantly seeking to highlight the real work that people do in our community: that involving social justice, highlighting injustice, and finding ways to challenge the existing inequitable structures. For our first in-person event since Omicron, we are so excited to be hosting it with an amazing organizer, Sheba Williams from Nolef Turns. Among many things, they work to fight recidivism through three major services:
1. Pre-Release Services
Pre-Release Services are for clients who are currently incarcerated and scheduled for release within 3-4 years.
2. Re-Entry Services
Re-Entry Services focus on the first 3 years post-incarceration.
3. Post-Conviction Services
Post-conviction services are for those who have been convicted and serve no prison time, as well as, those who are post-incarceration for 3 or more years.
Sheba Williams
In order to grow as a community, we must find forgiveness in those who make mistakes. Ms. Williams firmly believes in redemption and allowing others to have access to the tools they need to be able to become self-sufficient following a felony conviction. Employment is the key – whether it be corporate employment, self-employment or entrepreneurship. Being gainfully employed is the nucleus to housing, education, family structure, crime reduction, emotional stability, and so many other things and that is the core mission of Nolef Turns Inc.
